Hormone Therapy - Medical Concept with Pills, Injections and Syringe.

Hormone Pellets vs Creams vs Pills vs Troches

What is the best delivery method for Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy? There are so many choices and each one has it’s pro’s and cons. We have done our homework, and we have been doing this for over 20 years so definitely know what works. We also have strong opinions about some of the new methods so we urge you to read with an open mind and do a gut check and follow what connects with you. We are strong believers that you will intuitively know what is best for you and your body.

Here is a list of the most popular hormone delivery methods.

  • Hormone Pellets – Inserted in the upper buttocks under local anesthesia.
  • Hormone Creams – Made by a compounding Pharmacist applied daily to the skin.
  • Hormone Capsules / Pills – Either compound or from a manufacturer.
  • Hormone Injections – Either self injected or in clinic.
  • Hormone Troches – a medicated lozenge that easily dissolves in the mouth.

OK, so here is our overall guiding belief. We love delivery methods that allow you to quickly adjust the dose, especially when you are at the beginning of your hormone balancing journey. So based on that belief, you can pretty much guess which delivery methods we like best. We decided to interview our favorite Pharmacist Dave Abrams from Brighton Pharmacy. You can see the video below:

We have had people call our office who recently had a pellet inserted and their hormones are “RAGING” out of control and the are breaking out. They ask what they can do and the answer is… Wait 3 months. But with a cream or a capsule or even and injection, we can adjust their dose immediately. Once a Pellet is inserted, it’s inserted and there is nothing you can do about it. Pellets are counter intuitive to the process of finding your perfect hormone balance.
